Lorcana Rotation: Core vs Infinity

Updated June 10, 2026. Set legality data via LorcanaJSON — see sources. Prices: TCGplayer market prices via Lorcast, refreshed with each data update.

Disney Lorcana's organized play uses two constructed formats. Coreis the rotating format: only the most recent run of main sets is legal, and older sets “rotate out” in groups as new ones arrive. Infinity is the eternal format: every released set is legal, and nothing rotates. If you play casually at the kitchen table, none of this restricts you — rotation only governs sanctioned Core events.

Rotation happens by rotation group: main sets are bundled into numbered groups, and a whole group leaves Core together. According to the set legality data we track, the first rotation has already happened — rotation group 1 (Ursula's Return, Into the Inklands, Rise of the Floodborn, The First Chapter) left Core on September 5, 2025. Those cards remain fully legal in Infinity.

Future rotation dates are announced by Ravensburger; our data does not show a scheduled date for the next group, so treat any future rotation timing you read elsewhere as unconfirmed until officially announced.

Core legality by set

All 12 main sets, newest first. Every set below is legal in Infinity. Promo and special-event printings are reprints — they are playable wherever the card itself is legal.

What rotation means for your collection

  • Rotated cards are not dead cards. Everything stays legal in Infinity, and collector value is driven by scarcity and demand rather than Core legality — the priciest cards in our most-expensive ranking include plenty from rotated sets.
  • Competitive players should buy with the table above in mind. 8 sets are currently Core-legal; staples from the oldest legal group are the most exposed to the next rotation.
  • Check the set page before an event. Every set page shows its Core/Infinity status alongside the full card list.
